Efficiency Optimization of Cu2O/CsSnGeI3/IGZO Perovskite Solar Cell using Simulation

One of the materials being investigated for use in solar cell applications is perovskite. However, because of their better efficiency, lead-based perovskites are being investigated extensively; however, they are not environmentally benign. Our suggested solar cell, which is based on cesium tin-germanium triiodide (CsSnGeI3), has a higher efficiency and poses no environmental risks. Because of its high electron and hole mobility for carrier transport, we have selected IGZO as the ETL and Cu2o as the HTL. The open-source SCAPS 1D framework is used to computationally optimize the solar cell for optimal efficiency. First, we created an idealized simulation of the solar cell. Later, for optimal efficiency, the thickness of the absorber layer and ETL was increased. To examine the effects, we have also changed the bulk and interface flaws at the boundaries and impact of fault variations on the cell's efficiency. In order to choose an appropriate metal contact, we have also changed the metal contact's work function. Efficiency of 24.61 %, open circuit voltage (Voc) of 0.99 V, fill factor (FF) of 87.85%, and short-circuit density (Jsc) of 24.86 mA/cm2 were obtained from the first simulation of the cell with optimal boundary conditions.
