Direct Power Control of DFIG Based Wind Energy System Using MPPT with Fuzzy Logic Control
This paper presents direct power control (DPC) method of doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) for wind energy conversion-based system. Fuzzy Logic Control (FLC) technique is applied with DPC to improve the dynamic response of the generator and mitigate the ripple present in active power. DPC technique along with space vector modulation provides constant switching frequency. Additionally, the Perturb & Observe (P&O) method of Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) is utilized to maximize the output electrical power. Stator active and reactive power errors are taken as input to the fuzzy system and voltage vector is optimally taken as a defuzzified output. In this paper, the performance of DPC of grid connected DFIG is investigated for different wind speed conditions using FLC & MPPT method and is simulated in Matlab Simulink.
