Automated Drone-based Solar Panel Cleaning for Enhanced Efficiency and Sustainable Solar Power Generation
The amount of solar power that solar power systems produce depends on the degree to which photovoltaic (PV) panels remain clean. The passage of dust and dirt on PV panels together with other pollutants creates substantial energy output reduction due to blocked sunlight absorption. The cleaning techniques which include manual washing or robotic systems face difficulties particularly in large solar farm settings. Techniques used for cleaning photovoltaic panels typically require extensive labor expenditure and result in high cost and potential panel damage when executed without proper treatment. This paper analyzes drone-based solar panel maintenance which achieves automatic cleaning while minimizing environmental impact. Devices that combine sensors and spraying systems together with autonomous flight controls provide an effective solar panel maintenance approach which minimizes human involvement while maximizing cleaning performance. An evaluation of drone-based cleaning systems examines their technological aspects through an investigation of system design and operational methods and performance evaluation. The research evaluates the primary obstacles that prevent drone-based cleaning implementation as part of its findings. Two major technological impediments along with autonomy issues and two operational challenges affect drone-based solar power operations. The research works to create a cost-effective drone-based solution that maintains PV panel efficiency by fixing identified implementation hurdles which will enhance solar power sustainability.
