Design and Study of the Best Sizes for the Wind Turbine (WT), the Solar Photovoltaic (PV), and the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in a Microgrid Connected to the Power Grid
Renewable energy (RE) sources are more expensive and less reliable, which makes it hard for the electric power system to plan, integrate, and run them. It is very important that green energy sources and the energy storage that goes with them are the right size for the electric power system to work reliably, cheaply, and efficiently. Based on limitations, this study suggests iterative search methods that can be used to find the best sizes for grid-connected microgrid components like wind turbines (WT), solar photovoltaics (PV), and battery energy storage systems (BESS). Algorithm one finds the ideal dimensions of RE sources, and algorithm two finds the ideal capacity of BESS. The former is known as the sources sizing algorithm. Two fundamental requirements, namely, greatest reliability and least cost, form the basis of these algorithms. By exploring every potential solution in the provided search space, the suggested methodology seeks to prevent over- and under-sizing. And it's more realistic because it factors in BESS utilization factor, PV forced outage rates, and WT. The results of the simulation show that the strategy that was proposed works.
