Intelligent LPG Regulator: Leak Detection and Weight Monitoring using IoT Technology
The concept of this project focuses on a complete IoT-enabled LPG gas leakage detection system, which features automatic shut-off mechanisms for both the gas regulator and electricity, automatic window openings for ventilation, and monitoring of the gas cylinder's weight. The system uses an LPG gas sensor to detect any LPG leakage, initiating immediate safety actions to prevent potential accidents. During a gas leak, the system immediately cuts off the flow of gas and also can disconnect the electricity supply to reduce fire risks. A main feature of the system is its automatic gas regulator shut-off. The instant the leak of gas is detected, the system cuts off the gas supply automatically, thus interrupting the flow of the gas from the cylinder. This action ensures that the leak is stopped at the source, preventing further gas accumulation and significantly reducing the risk of an explosion or fire. The system can also cut off the electricity supply. Since electrical sparks are one of the leading causes of fires during gas leaks, cutting off the electricity supply ensures that no spark or short circuit will ignite the leaking gas. Another feature is that the load cell periodically monitors the weight of the gas cylinder, with low weight levels monitored through an application or web interface. By preventing unforeseen shortages, this guarantees that users can effectively manage their gas supply. When an LPG gas leak is detected, the windows automatically open for ventilation, reducing the risk of an explosion or fire due to gas accumulation.
