An Efficient Privacy-Centric Architecture for Smart Home Systems
In homes, to operate the home securely is a significant aspect and is challenging in terms of user misbehavior, network vulnerabilities, and data breaches by malicious actors in the operation. Threats like exploitation, and eavesdropping would affect home operations and compromising the sensitive data. The risks increase when the number of devices increases. The scenario demands robust secure architecture in which three aspects are ensured such as decentralized management, advanced security algorithm to avoid privileges misuse, and protect the sensitive information using defense in depth mechanism. The advantage of this system is to provide user data with more security while maintaining system’s efficiency. There are significant practices to be applied such as updating of latest security patches, avoiding physical tampering and theft, strong encryption protocols, strong passwords, and educating users. It exercises key aspects such as physical, data, network, and device. The significant factors considered for the effectiveness of this system are accuracy and cost-effectiveness. The pinpoint considered is home door security, and outcome is accuracy.
