IoT-Enabled Real-Time Landslide Monitoring using Waterbody Sensors

Landslides pose a significant threat to human life and infrastructure, necessitating effective monitoring and early warning systems. Traditional methods often fail to provide real-time data, leading to delays in hazard response. To address this issue, an IoT-enabled real-time landslide monitoring system has been developed, integrating soil moisture sensors, vibration sensors, and GPS modules, all managed by an ESP32 microcontroller. The system continuously monitors soil saturation and ground movements, transmitting critical data via a GSM module to a remote server or mobile device. Upon detecting abnormal conditions, it triggers instant alerts to local authorities and stakeholders, enhancing preparedness and response strategies. This solution improves landslide prediction accuracy and offers a proactive disaster management approach, significantly reducing potential losses in high-risk areas. Keywords: IoT, landslide monitoring, real-time monitoring, early warning system, disaster management, environmental monitoring, soil saturation, ground movement detection, real-time alarms, location tracking.
