The intermediary effect of perceived social support on the psychological resilience and discharge readiness among gynecological patients of childbearing age

This study aimed to analyze the current state of discharge readiness among gynecological patients of childbearing age and to investigate the mediating role of perceived social support in the relationship between psychological resilience and discharge readiness. Convenience sampling was used to conduct a questionnaire survey of 197 gynecological patients of childbearing age at a tertiary hospital in Jiangsu Province. The survey utilized a general information questionnaire, perceived social support scale, psychological resilience scale, and discharge readiness scale. The total scores for perceived social support (74.54 ± 8.84), psychological resilience (97.25 ± 16.73), and discharge readiness (106.18 ± 15.08) among the patients were all above average. Correlation analysis indicated that both perceived social support and psychological resilience were positively associated with discharge readiness (P < .05). The intermediary effect revealed that perceived social support partially mediates the relationship between psychological resilience and discharge readiness. Psychological resilience can directly and positively predict patients' discharge readiness, and indirectly predict discharge readiness through perceived social support. Healthcare providers should mobilize external social support resources while enhancing internal psychological interventions to improve patient discharge readiness.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the current state of discharge readiness among gynecological patients of childbearing age and to investigate the mediating role of perceived social support in the relationship between psychological resilience and discharge readiness. Convenience sampling was used to conduct a questionnaire survey of 197 gynecological patients of childbearing age at a tertiary hospital in Jiangsu Province.
