„Aventurile politice” ale șleahtei poloneze în Țara Moldovei în sec. al XVI-lea: expresie identitară a sarmatismului polonez
The article analyzes the ”political adventures” of the Polish szlachta in Moldavia in the 16th century, highlighting how Sarmatism, as an identity element of the Polish Sarmatian identity, influenced the “initiatives on their own” of the Polish magnates in Moldavia. The historical context is defined by Poland’s desire to turn Moldova into a buffer zone against the Ottoman Empire using matrimonial relations and political alliances to achieve this goal. Gradually, Sarmatism transforms from a myth promoted by Polish medieval literature into a well-developed political ideology, which incorporates in itself the style of life and political thinking. The research highlights the impact of the Sarmatism ideology on the political behavior of the Sarmatists, manifested through independent diplomatic and political-military actions aimed to promote Polish interests in Moldova.
