Efficacy of the drug Forsecto® in ectoparasitosis of dogs

This article presents the results of evaluating the efficacy of the veterinary spot-on Forsecto® for the treatment and prevention of infestation of dogs with ixodid ticks, fleas, lice, chewing lice and protection against attacks by blood-sucking mosquitoes. The efficacy of Forsecto® against spontaneous infestation with ixodid ticks was 100 % for 42 days after a single treatment. The death of 100% of ectoparasites was recorded 24 hours after treatment. The efficacy of Forsecto® against spontaneous infestation with fleas, lice and chewing lice was 100 % for 56 days after a single treatment. The death of 100 % of fleas was recorded after 24 hours, lice and chewing lice after 7 days after treatment. Forsecto® has a pronounced knockdown effect, which occurs 2.26…2.75 minutes after the contact of ixodid ticks with the fur of an animal treated with the drug and is recorded for at least 21 days. Forsecto® has a repellent effect against blood-sucking mosquitoes Aedes spp. and Culex spp., which lasts for at least 10 days. When monitoring the clinical condition of animals during the period of drug use, no adverse reactions were recorded.
