Selection of the Technical Arsenal from Judo and Sambo in the Context of Developing a Physical Education Program for Higher Education Institutions

The article is devoted to an urgent pedagogical issue — the integration of judo and sambo techniques into physical education programs for students of higher education institutions. The authors emphasize that professionally organized training in combat sports positively affects physical health, strengthens the body, develops coordination, strength, endurance, and self-defense skills. In this context, the rational selection of a technical arsenal for students without prior training experience becomes relevant. The study analyzes the technical features of judo and sambo, which, despite the common principles of combat, have differences in grips, throws, and groundwork. An important aspect is adherence to the current rules of each sport: for example, judo prohibits gripping below the belt, whereas sambo allows grips of the arms, torso, and clothing elements. The article also highlights the peculiarities of standing and ground fighting techniques and their classification according to the principles of execution. The authors' position is that the integration of judo and sambo into physical education holds significant pedagogical potential: mastering techniques of one sport enhances understanding and progress in the other. Even with a limited number of classes (twice a week for 90 minutes), the proposed program enables students to acquire basic combat skills applicable both in competitions and real-life self-defense situations. The conclusions highlight that integrating judo and sambo techniques is a logical and effective step in developing modern physical education programs in higher education institutions. The combination of two martial arts systems ensures a broader development of students' physical and psychological qualities, promotes an active lifestyle, and enhances motivation for regular sports participation. Further research in this direction is considered promising and could serve as a basis for the development of even more advanced training programs tailored to the needs of modern youth.
