The utilization of sensory integration in occupational therapy has been demonstrated to be an efficacious method of reducing anxiety and enhancing self-regulation
The article provides a detailed analysis of the impact of occupational therapy interventions based on the principles of sensory integration in the context of reducing anxiety and improving self-regulation skills. A thorough review of the extant literature reveals a paucity of research addressing the impact of sensory integration on anxiety reduction and self-regulation in occupational therapy. Despite its notable popularity in the field, there is a dearth of high-quality studies examining this crucial aspect of practice. The following aspects of sensory integration are outlined: its definition, manifestations, and aetiology. The impact of anxiety on a person's self-regulation problems is described in detail, and recommendations are given on how an occupational therapy intervention plan based on the sensory integration approach should look like, with the aim of reducing anxiety and improving self-regulation skills.
