Laurence–Moon–Bardet–Biedl Syndrome with Coexisting Sensorineural Hearing Loss: A Rare Manifestation and Review of the Literature
Abstract Laurence–Moon–Bardet–Biedl syndrome (LMBBS) is a rare autosomal recessive defect characterized by diverse multisystem manifestations. It is characterized predominantly by pigmentary dystrophy, hypogonadism, obesity, polydactyly, and mental retardation. A 12-year-old adolescent boy presented with progressive loss of vision, obesity, delayed mental growth, and hearing loss. Here, we highlight the rarity of otorhinolaryngological manifestations in LMBBS. Clinicians need to be aware of this as early detection can significantly reduce morbidity and mortality in these patients.
