The Pattern and Trend of Renewable Energy Investment Under the Belt and Road Initiative
The global energy structure was transformed and climate change issues have led countries to shift towards cleaner energies, especially along the Belt and Road, where a variety of renewable resource bases could enhance economic and sustainable development. But yet these countries are faced with a lot of challenges in this course of renewable development, such as finance, technology, and policies. In this paper, the Belt and Road Renewable Energy Investment Database creates a system of evaluation including three key aspects: diversification of investment modes, diversification of investment types, and the closeness of cooperation. Incorporating the data for renewable energy investment projects in 21 Belt and Road countries, it unveils the vital role played by Chinese enterprises in the advancement of the low-carbon energy transition and provides sound references for policymakers and investment decision-makers.
