Cardiac arrhythmias and diagnostic technology: epidemiological overview and advances in Brazil

Objective: This study aimed to analyze hospital admissions for cardiac arrhythmias and conduction disorders in Brazil, focusing on correlations with demographic variables such as age, gender, and race. Methods: Secondary data from the SUS Hospital Information System (SIH/SUS) were used, covering admissions recorded between 2014 and 2024. Data analysis focused on demographic and geographic trends, considering distribution by age, gender, and race. Results: The analysis revealed that admissions significantly increased with age, especially in the 60+ age group, with the Southeast Region being the most affected. Men had a higher prevalence of admissions, with male predominance in all regions. Regarding race, the white population had the highest number of admissions, particularly in the Southeast and South Regions, while the indigenous population had the lowest number, reflecting disparities in access to diagnosis and proper treatment. Conclusion: The study highlighted the importance of early diagnosis, using advanced technologies like cardiac MRI and artificial intelligence algorithms, which have the potential to improve diagnostic accuracy and reduce late hospitalizations. However, the implementation of these technologies requires attention to costs and available infrastructure, especially in regions with limited access. The study concludes that strengthening public health policies, prioritizing early screening and proper treatment, and reducing inequalities in access to healthcare are essential to improve clinical management and patients' quality of life.
