OXIDATIVE STRESS, ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY AND CYTOKINE PROFILE IN PATIENTS WITH ABDOMINAL SEPSIS
Introduction. The study of lipid peroxidation, antioxidant blood system and cytokine profile with abdominal sepsis are focused on identifying markers to evaluate the immune function during the sepsis for treatment, which can help better understanding the entire immune response with abdominal sepsis. The purpose of the study: to study the role of lipid peroxidation, the antioxidant system of blood and the cytokine profile in the development of inflammatory reactions for abdominal sepsis and the possibility of using as biomarkers. Material and methods. The study includes 104 patients aged 24 to 73 years. The investigation criteria in the study were: age older than 18 years, 2 criteria for systemic inflammation syndrome and more, clinical signs of abdominal sepsis, high level of proshalcitonin (2 ng/ml and above). The exclusion criteria were the presence of a non -enhanced focus of surgical infection, continuing bleeding. Results and discussion: IL-6 in patients with abdominal sepsis in this study was increased when assessing the indicator in the first phase of the disease up to 276.4 pg/ml, IL-8 to 361 pg/ml, a reliable increase in IL-10 levels was also observed to maximum values in this study to 157.6 pg/ml, Tgfβ-1 -134 ng / ml. The high levels of TNF-α (22.6-37.13 pg/ml), IL-1β (22.0-19.4 pg/ml) probably contributed to the progression of the disease and complications. In patients with abdominal sepsis, a reliable increase in the level of MDA (5.8 μmol/l) increased the activity of spontaneous NВT test (65%) of the catalase content in red blood cells (53 mmol/min*gHb), SOD in patients 6.2 units/ml and a decrease in the content of ceruloplasmin (252 mg/l). Conclusions. As a result of this study, patients with abdominal sepsis revealed increased products of a complex of both pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines with their rapid and excessive intake in peripheral blood, and also found a reliable increase in the level of MDA, an increase in the activity of spontaneous catalase content in erythrocyte.
