SWADES : A blockchain enabled secure whitelisting in attack detection system to resist against DDOS attack

Educational institutions are the custodians of valuable data that includes student records, research findings and administrative details. Safeguarding these information are importentt to maintain trust and prevent unauthorized access of educational institutes. This work examines the challenges to be faced by educational institutions around many countries in the world and proposes a comprehensive model called Secure whitelisting in attack detection system (SWADES) to improve data security and privacy. SWADES model utilizes blockchain technology to create a secure whitelisting data sharing chain among multiple members of a educational institution. This work maintains a symbolic relationship between blockchain and intrusion detection systems (IDS) that empowers educational institutions to protect and maintain their valuable data assets effectively. Using SWADES educational institutions can address complex security threats while building an environment of trust and reliability among students, employees and other stakeholders. Performance parameter like accuracy, precision, detection rate, f1 score, false alarm rate are utilized to analyse the performance of SVM and CNN based SWADES model. Performance comparision shows that the SWADES model can handle a large number of transactions effectively.
