Smart Car Parking System with Online Reservation
With an exponentially increasing number of automobiles, the demand for parking spaces—mostly in urban areas—is accelerated. It is what contributes to tra ffi c congestion, provokes drivers, and Ine ffi ciency in giving real-time information about the availability of parking spots is what makes many of today’s parking management systems go faulty. In this paper, the design of a smart parking management system is presented in a bid to innovate the parking process using Raspberry Pi, TensorFlow Lite, and Tesseract. It has a custom YOLOv8 model for license plate detection, with a user-friendly web app for reservations. Raspberry Pi 4 Model B has been chosen for its superior processing power and energy e ffi ciency, which make it capable of delivering real-time vehicle detection and license plate identification. The proposed solution reduces congestion and improves parking management within a campus environment and can be locally deployed in other places.
