The Impact of FDI Spillover Effects on Regional Agricultural Total Factor Productivity: A Case Study of Guangdong Province
This paper discusses the spillover effects of foreign direct investment (FDI) on regional agricultural total factor productivity (TFP) and the channels through which these effects occur. Using the Solow residual method, we estimate the increase in agricultural total factor productivity in Guangdong Province from 2004 to 2016. We further conduct significance and heterogeneity analyses of the impact of FDI on the increase in agricultural total factor productivity in Guangdong Province through a regression model. The study indicates that the spillover effects of FDI are detrimental to the improvement of total factor productivity, with this effect being more pronounced in the Pearl River Delta region.
