EVALUASI KESESUAIAN LAHAN UNTUK PENGEMBANGAN TANAMAN SORGUM (Shorgumbicolor L.) PADA LAHAN KERING DI KECAMATAN BURAU KABUPATEN LUWU TIMUR

This study aims to determine the actual and potential land suitability of Sorghum (Shorgum bicolor L) plants in Burau District, East Luwu Regency. The method used in this study is a survey method and determination of land suitability classes based on the FAO approach with limiting factors and land characteristics, actual and potential land interpretation matched (matching) on the criteria for land suitability of Sorghum plants. The results of the actual land suitability analysis are in accordance with marginal (S3wn) with limiting factors of water availability (rainfall) and available nutrients (N-Total). Potential land suitability is very suitable (S1) for land units 3, 5, 10 and 12. While the suitability of potential land in land units 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 13 and 14 is quite appropriate (S2), with the limiting factor of the root media (Texture). In the actual land suitability class (S3wn) with limiting factors of water availability (rainfall) and available nutrients (N-Total) in all land units. Improvement efforts that can be done are making drainage and fertilizing N (urea) so that it becomes a very suitable land suitability class (S1).
