MECHANIZATION IN CONSTRUCTION PHASE FOR HIGH RISE RESIDENTIAL PROJECTS OF INDIA
The dissertation explores the role of mechanization of high-rise residential buildings in India. Addressing the challenges of traditional construction methods, it emphasizes the potential benefits of mechanization in improving productivity, reducing costs, and ensuring safety and quality. Through a mixed-methods approach combining literature reviews, surveys, and case studies, the research identifies the barriers to mechanization, such as high initial costs, lack of skilled operators, and cultural resistance. Comparative analyses between mechanized and traditional methods reveal substantial efficiency gains, particularly in repetitive and high-volume tasks like wall chasing, plastering, and painting. The study highlights the application of specific tools and machinery, supported by cost-benefit analyses, showcasing a reduction in material wastage and enhanced consistency in output. Survey findings indicate a growing industry interest in mechanization, driven by factors like time efficiency and safety, yet constrained by operational costs and the availability of trained personnel. Recommendations focus on strategic investments in mechanization, training programs for operators, and government incentives to lower barriers for adoption. The findings aim to guide stakeholders in integrating mechanization into the construction of high-rise residential projects, aligning with India's urbanization goals and sustainability needs.
