ELECTROCHEMICAL AND SURFACE ANALYSIS OF MILD STEEL BY USING NOVEL INHIBITOR OF ACALYPHA WILKESIANA IN HYDROCHLORIC ACID
Acalypha Wilkesiana extract's anti-corrosive properties were examined on Mild Steel. The addition of the extract to the HCl solution decreased the corrosion current density (Icorr) compared to the blank solution; the plot showed that Icorr increased along with the concentrations of Acalypha Wilkesiana extract, indicating that the extract is effective in preventing corrosion even under the most unfavorable conditions. Surface characterization confirmed the formation of this protective layer, and FTIR analysis identified the main functional groups implicated in the metalinhibitor interaction.
