Designing and Developing Innovative Lifestyle Products from Patterns of Local Woven Textile
Objectives: To redesign and develop innovative fashion products using cultural capital from local Thai weaving patterns, specifically from the northern region of Thailand. To combine traditional weaving patterns (such as those from Jok tube-skirts) with innovative production methods to create contemporary fashion for consumers interested in cultural products. Methods: The research involved quantitative data collection to analyze consumer preferences. Qualitative analysis was conducted to generate guidelines for product design. The study focused on redesigning traditional weaving patterns with modern techniques, including digital printing and handicraft methods, to create functional, contemporary fashion. Results: The design guidelines revealed: Design Concept: Utilize the beauty of traditional weaving patterns from Thai woven textiles to create modern, stylish fashion wear. Fashion Style: Re-design original patterns for a Decon (Deconstructivism) fashion style, incorporating asymmetry, re-composition, attenuation, and overlapping to create dimensional depth. Production Technique: Combine digital printing technology with handicrafts to add dimensional effects to the designs. Product Outcome: The created products are multifunctional fashion collections that can be adapted for parties and other occasions. Conclusion: The research successfully integrated traditional Thai cultural patterns with contemporary fashion trends, utilizing both innovative technologies and traditional craftsmanship. The outcome includes multi-functional, culturally inspired fashion that appeals to consumers interested in sustainable and culturally rich designs.
