The Study of the Relationship among Mental Burnout, Physical Capability and Resilience of Military Cadets
[Purpose] To investigate the level of mental burnout and explore the relationship between mental burnout, physical ability and resilience of military cadets [Method] 486 cadets from a military college were selected as research objects in September 2022. Athlete Burnout Questionnaire (ABQ) and Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC) were adopted for 7-8 weeks of basic military training. And tested physical ability with the Military Physical Training Program. [Results] Of the cadets, 169 (36.4%) had no mental burnout, 179 (38.6%) were at a moderate level of mental burnout, and 116 (25%) were at a high level of mental burnout. There were no significant differences in demographic variables such as sex, age, only child, and family residence (P>0.05). Total physical ability score was significantly negatively correlated with mental burnout (P<0.05), and horizontal bar score was significantly negatively correlated with mental burnout (P<0.01). The total resilience score was significantly negatively correlated with the level of mental burnout (P<0.05), and the three resilience factors were significantly negatively correlated with the level of mental burnout and all its factors (P<0.01). Linear regression analysis showed that physical ability and resilience had predictive effects on cadets' mental burnout levels. [Conclusion] It is common for military cadets to have mental burnout problems. We should pay attention to cadets with poor physical ability, especially with poor performance on horizontal bars. We can improve resilience to reduce the level of mental burnout.
