Artificial Intelligence in U.S. Healthcare: Evolutionary Trend or Revolutionary Shift?

This paper critically examines whether artificial intelligence (AI) in U.S. healthcare constitutes a revolutionary paradigm shift or an evolutionary continuation of digital innovation. Drawing upon Kuhn’s theory of scientific revolutions and Christensen’s disruptive innovation model, the analysis compares AI’s trajectory with historical transformations such as the Germ Theory revolution, the Industrial Revolution, and the Digital Revolution.

Abstract

This paper critically examines whether artificial intelligence (AI) in U.S. healthcare constitutes a revolutionary paradigm shift or an evolutionary continuation of digital innovation. Drawing upon Kuhn’s theory of scientific revolutions and Christensen’s disruptive innovation model, the analysis compares AI’s trajectory with historical transformations such as the Germ Theory revolution, the Industrial Revolution, and the Digital Revolution.
