Application of Artificial Intelligence in Team Sports Talent Identification: A Systematic Literature Review

Integrating cutting-edge technologies has been suggested to be important in the talent identification and development (TID) processes. This paper explored the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in revolutionizing TID in team sports, using published papers indexed on Google Scholar on the last five years. We propose a system literature review to answer some research questions. The first question regards the samples character used in the research, we find that a wide range of population size in different team sport, and some studies also use the players with special roles. The second question discusses the artificial Intelligence techniques used in the researches, we can find researchers using different AI methods according to the special need of the sport. The third question explore the sport performance variables used, some studies use the important variables combined with the questionnaire to help the talent identification, we can find that the experience from sport professionals is still important in the processing of talent selection. Our last question aim to analysis what are the key performance outcomes of AI methods used in the research, most of study have significant positive result proved the efficient of AI methods applying in TID These findings highlight the significant advancements of AI applications in TID, and the AI technologies could be a useful method that enable coaches and scouts to uncover and develop our future talent in different team sports.
