A satellite-ground station handover method based on remaining hold time threshold in low Earth orbit satellite networks
Low Earth Orbit satellite networks assume a pivotal role in the context of 6G, supplementing terrestrial systems with their extensive coverage and agile resource management capabilities. The highly dynamic ground-satellite link conditions, stemming from significant relative motion, urgently call for efficient handover mechanisms. In this paper, a handover strategy predicated on the remaining hold time threshold is put forward, with the remaining link hold time serving as the principal criterion. Through network modeling, potential link filtration, and optimized link selection procedures, this approach bolsters connection stability and curtails the average link distance. Simulation results validate its efficacy in enhancing the handover performance of Low Earth Orbit satellite networks.
