Creating Interactive Scenes using Open Broadcaster Studio (OBS) Studio for Streaming Virtual Classroom over Zoom and other Platforms
The idea behind this project is to improve student engagement and create an environment that increases student participation in a virtual/hybrid classroom.Open Broadcaster Studio (OBS), an opensource solution for screen capturing and live streaming was used to deliver a highperformance real-time video/audio capturing and mixing.Interactive scenes comprised of multiple sources such as window captures, multiple video cameras, and other media sources were created to facilitate student learning.Enabling number of scenes/sources instructor can switch between seamlessly via custom transitions allows for a learning experience like that of a regular classroom experience. The scenes were broadcasted via Zoom to teach ECE 2010, a laboratory-based engineering course, and summer pre-college programs at WPI, and the feedback from students was encouraging, with student engagement improving significantly.
