Simulation analysis of flame merging and flame height in double pool fires at different horizontal levels
Using CFD, the phenomenon of flame merging and the characteristics of flame height for dual-pool fires at different horizontal levels were simulated and analyzed. The research findings indicate that: (1) The spacing between the pools causes the flames to exhibit four states: complete merging, incomplete merging, no merging, and single-pool fire. (2) The flame heights of pool fires with different liquid levels all decrease as the ratio of vertical height to diameter (Y/D) increases, and due to the mutual attraction between the flames of the low-level and high-level pool fires, the flame height of the lowlevel pool fire is consistently higher than that of the high-level pool fire.
