Maintenance optimization and failure prediction of laboratory equipment based on big data analysis

Modern laboratory environments rely on specialized equipment that must consistently perform at high accuracy and reliability levels. Traditional maintenance approaches, such as corrective and periodic maintenance, are limited in their capacity to handle the complexity, cost, and risks associated with unexpected failures or suboptimal scheduling. Recent advancements in big data analytics, bolstered by the rise of the Internet of Things (IoT), offer an alternative paradigm based on continuous monitoring, large-scale data collection, and predictive modeling. This paper presents a holistic framework for maintenance optimization and failure prediction of laboratory equipment by leveraging real-time sensor data and advanced machine learning. Through data acquisition, preprocessing, model training, and ongoing validation, the proposed system demonstrates improved failure detection accuracy and more efficient maintenance schedules compared to conventional strategies. The results illustrate the potential of big data-driven solutions to reduce downtime, lower maintenance expenses, and improve overall laboratory productivity. By integrating domain-specific constraints and performance metrics, the framework accommodates various equipment profiles while maintaining scalability and adaptability. The paper concludes by proposing future work that extends the current methodology to incorporate additional environmental parameters, advanced deep learning methods, and cross-domain transfer techniques for broader laboratory applications.
