A Política Partidária Ideológica na Integração do Mercosul

The goal of this paper is to explore the political, partisan and ideological positions that the three Brazilian parties that held the Presidency of the Republic between 1993 and 2018 – MDB, PSDB and PT – may have attributed to the orientation of Mercosur's regional integration foreign policy, which is the main axis of Brazilian foreign policy during that period. To analyze the orientation of Mercosur's foreign integration policy, individuals and professionals who were or are still part of the integration block were interviewed. The observed results indicate that, in fact, foreign policy, like other policies, is directly influenced by political and ideological positions linked to the party that controls the Brazilian executive.
