Ultrafast Pulse Waveform Measurement for Photodetector Phase and Magnitude Response Evaluation

The layout of the electro-optic sampling measuring system for evaluating the linearity of the phase response of photodetectors are considered. The results of the algorithms for impulse response, transient response, magnitude response and phase response of the photodetectors measurements are discussed. The waveform samples were processed with mathematical transformations using a software method, which eliminates the distortions that decrease the precision of the calculation of the magnitude and phase responses. The main advantages of the layout in comparison with the state standard GET 182-2010: the bandwidth is higher and the temporal characteristics are better.

Abstract

The layout of the electro-optic sampling measuring system for evaluating the linearity of the phase response of photodetectors are considered. The results of the algorithms for impulse response, transient response, magnitude response and phase response of the photodetectors measurements are discussed. The waveform samples were processed with mathematical transformations using a software method, which eliminates the distortions that decrease the precision of the calculation of the magnitude and phase responses. The main advantages of the layout in comparison with the state standard GET 182-2010: the bandwidth is higher and the temporal characteristics are better.
