Broadband Slit-Cut Square-Shaped Meta-Surface Slot-Coupled Antenna for C-Band Radar Technology
This research proposes a very low-complexity broadband meta-surface slot antenna for C-band radar technology. A 4 × 6 uniformly square-shaped meta-surface scheme was on the upper-layered substrate. The meta-surface scheme has been slit-cut in vertical and horizontal lines for impedance bandwidth (IBW) improvement. Besides, slit-cut lines contributed to match impedance around 6.4 GHz and 7 GHz, giving rise to wide IBW. On lower-layered substrates, the slot-coupled sat at the center of the ground plane with a Y-shaped microstrip-line feed on the other side. The simulated results of IBW and gain variation were between 4.63 – 8.33 GHz and 5.78 – 9.33 dBic. The maximum gain was 9.33 dBic at 6 GHz. The proposed slit-cut meta-surface antenna achieved a wideband IBW, rendering it operational for C-band radar applications.
