Computer Aided Transmission Line Fault Detection and Classification Method Using Continuous Wavelet Transform and Decision Tree
A computer aided transmission line fault detection and classification method (CATLFDCM) is designed in this paper. CATLFDCM uses the continuous Wavelet transform (CWT) and rule based decision tree (RBDT). Current signals are decomposed using CWT considering sampling frequency of 1000Hz to compute absolute magnitudes of output CWT coefficients. The color map image of the absolute values of CWT data in an array using full range of colors is obtained which is used to identify the faulty phases. Number of faulty phases so identified are used as input to the RBDT to compute the type of fault. Study is performed on a two terminal transmission line (TTTL). This method performs superior compared to the decision tree driven method available in literature.
