A Decade of Insights: Analyzing Trends in CCME Water Quality Index
This study offers a comprehensive ten-year (2013–2023) analysis of the water quality index (WQI) in Dehradun, India. The main tool used in this analysis is the CCME Water Quality Index. Important parameters such as pH, dissolved oxygen (DO), total dissolved solids (TDS), chemical oxygen demand (COD), biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), and presence of heavy metals were measured in water samples that were collected from a range of sources, including lakes, rivers, and groundwater. A total of fourteen parameters are used in this analysis: total alkalinity, total hardness, pH, BOD, Ca, DO, Mg, Na, K, Cl, NO3, SO4, PO4, and TDS. Of the twenty-seven samples, six are classified as excellent, six as good, and five as fair; the remaining four samples are classified as marginal and the remaining six as poor. An effective instrument for giving a summary of water quality data is CCME WQI. The findings indicate that seasonal variations, urbanization, economic trade, and agriculture have the biggest effects on WQI, which first exhibits a notable improvement before declining. The report emphasizes that in order to safeguard water resources, more stringent water management regulations must be put in place along with ongoing monitoring.
