Superposition-Assisted Structure (SAS) for Crosstalk Reduction in 14-core Homogeneous MCF with Optimal Cladding Diameter

A 14 core homogeneous multicore fiber (MCF) with a superposition-assisted (SAS) structure is proposed and analyzed to achieve optimal performance and lower inter-core crosstalk(XT). The MCF having two ring core arrangement to reduce XT and high mode density. XT performance is assessed across a 100-kilometer transmission distance, taking into account differences in bending radius, wavelength, and core pitch. The fiber’s enormous effective area (A<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">eff</inf>) of 117.7μm2 and power fraction of around 97% significantly reduces nonlinear effects. The SAS 14-core fundamental (LP01) mode fiber, with a cladding diameter of 200 μm, can suppress XT up to -81.3 dB/100 km and minimize confinement loss to 10⁻⁶ level during mode propagation at 1550 nm wavelength. These characteristics highlight its promise as a reliable solution for long-distance, high-capacity optical communication systems.
