Design and Analysis of a Circular Patch Quad MIMO Antenna with Intermediate Ring for 5G Wireless Communications
The study presented in this work is focused on the designing of circular patch quad MIMO antenna, which supports the fifth generation (5G) of wireless communications. The designing and analysis of this antenna is conducted on Ansys HFSS Software. The antenna’s bandwidth lies between 26GHz to 29GHz which make it suitable for 5G applications .The stacked circular patches with integrated ring in the structure are recommended to enhance performance. Every radiating element utilizes a 1.6mm thick substrate, which is produced on the base of FR-4 epoxy material. In order to enhance the performance of the antenna, every circular patch is having a Defected Ground Structure (DGS). The radiation patterns were computed at frequencies of 28.11GHz. The Reflection Coefficient have the resonating frequency of 28.11GHz at -44.09 dB. It also provides Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) which is below two which depicts that the antenna is providing impedance matching very efficiently and also it is providing lesser signal reflection and the designed MIMO antenna is operating at a Peak Gain of 9.51dB at frequency of 28.11 GHz. Moreover, the Envelope Correlation Coefficient (ECC) and Diversity Gain are evaluated and their values were established to meet the threshold standards of ECC, which is about 0.002, and DG, which is about 9.97.
