Fabrication and Analysis of Zinc Oxide Film-based Metal-Semiconductor-Metal Devices on Flexible Substrates
Flexible electronics offer lightweight, sustainable, and low-cost solutions for modern technological needs. This study explores the fabrication of two-terminal electronic devices on natural substrates like the Ficus religiosa (pipal leaf) and synthetic materials such as Teflon tape, advancing flexible electronics. Zinc Oxide (ZnO) nanowires, known for their excellent electrical and optical properties, serve as the active channel material in these devices. Drop casting is used for ZnO deposition, providing controlled and reproducible device fabrication. Characterization of these devices involves Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), and current-voltage (I-V) measurements to assess the structural, crystallographic, and electrical properties. The performance of the devices is tested on both biodegradable leaves and durable Teflon tape, demonstrating potential applications in eco-friendly electronics, biodegradable devices, and wearables. This project highlights the combination of sustainability and semiconductor technology, aiming to create low-cost, efficient alternatives for electronic device fabrication. By using natural materials such as Ficus religiosa, the study pushes the boundaries of green electronics, reducing the need for environmentally harmful manufacturing processes. The research shows the versatility of ZnO nanowires in flexible devices and emphasizes the potential of Ficus religiosa as a biodegradable platform for electronic development.
