Optimal Tuning PID Controller Parameters using Chess Algorithm for Load Frequency Control of Wind-Natural Gas Power System
The design of a Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controller requires precise tuning of its three key parameters: proportional gain, integral gain, and derivative gain. The performance of the controller is directly influenced by the accuracy of these parameter values. This study introduces a novel optimization method inspired by the principles of chess gameplay, termed the Chess Algorithm (CA), for optimal tuning of PID parameters in the Load Frequency Control (LFC) of the Wind-Natural Gas (WG) power system. The proposed CA offers several advantages, including simplicity in implementation, stable convergence properties, computational efficiency, and the ability to produce high-quality solutions. Various time-domain performance criteria were analyzed to evaluate the effectiveness of the CA-PID controller. Simulation results demonstrated that the proposed approach outperforms traditional methods in terms of efficiency and robustness, significantly enhancing the step response of the WG power system.
