Triple Band Microstrip Defected Ground Antenna For Multi-Spectral Frequency Application

The analysis and design of microstrip defected ground structure antennas (DGS) is presented in this study. The proposed microstrip DGS antenna has improved performance than the conventional microstrip. Radiated electric fields, gain and impedance matching have discussed at the resonant frequencies 10.09 GHz, 12.97 GHz, and 18.741 GHz. The three resonant frequencies were analyzed at 10.09 GHz, 12.97GHz, 18.74GHz corresponding reflection coefficients are -32.67 dB, –27.61dB and -17.22dB respectively. Overall size of 35×35×1.6 mm3 is optimized by the proposed triple-band antenna. Additionally, the proposed antenna offers the first band from 9.80 to 10.40GHz, second band from 12.54GHz to 13.50GHz and third band from 17.37GHz to 21.11GHz and related bandwidths of 58.67%, 74.4% respectively 92.3%. Maximum Gain 1.97dBi at 10.09GHz, 5.89dBi at 12.97GHz and 6.2dBi at 18.74GHz. Radiation efficiency is greater than 86% within the targeted operating frequency band (9.80 GHz to 10.40 GHz), 89.7% at frequency range (12.54 to 13.50GHz) and 90% at frequency range (17.37GHz to 21.11GHz). This proposed antenna will be useful in X band, Ku band, K band, Radar and satellite communication applications.
