Enhancing Visible Light Communication: SIMO-VLC with Zero-Forcing Receiver and Equal Gain Diversity

This study presents the implementation of a single input multiple output visible light communication (SIMO-VLC) system with equal gain diversity (EGC) and a zero-forcing (ZF) based receiver. The error performance of proposed SIMO-VLC system utilizing on-off keying (OOK) modulation is analyzed and compared with well established single-input single-output (SISO) VLC system over line of sight (LOS) downlink scenario. The performance of SIMO-VLC utilizing OOK modulation is examined for different receiver positions in terms of error. The proposed SIMO-VLC system performs better than the SISO-VLC system in error performance. The error performance of SIMO-VLC system is also evaluated for varying number of PDs i.e., K at user terminal. The effect of inter PD separation i.e., D<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">P</inf> on error probability of SIMO-VLC system utilizing OOK modulation is investigated. The simulated outcomes are cross-verified against the analytical findings for validation.
