"Six Thinking Hats" for Individual Learning Engagement in AI-based Learning Platforms

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become increasingly integrated into Learning and Development (L&D), considering AI’s rapid adaptation. Research has shown that AI enhances learning, however, poses a challenge in terms of individual’s learning engagement (ILE). This paper introduces use of six thinking hats (STH) to foster ILE in AI-based learning platforms by developing a tool Bhav-Mapika (emotion-based thinking interpretation) which interprets the individual’s learning engagement (ILE) by using STH in AI-based digital learning platforms with an emphasis to foster the learning engagement by using modern day technology. The modern technology enabled Bhav-Mapika can positively impact the L&D section for learning engagement. The tool comprises of advance technology-based tools like OpenCV with Dlib and SKIKIT-Image processing, Python and SVN and Random Forest. The qualitative method of the research focused on investigating modern digital technology’s application of STH theory to interpret and foster engagement. While the experimental method of research involved 30 learners for Bhav-Mapika tool validation, the results revealed a significant impact of Bhav-Mapika tool on ILE. Thus, Bhav-Mapika digital tool addresses the research gap by fostering ILE in AI-based learning platforms, thereby contributing to Human Resource Practices using Digital Technologies.
