Wideband to Dual Band Frequency Reconfigurable Antenna for 5G Millimeter Wave Application
A compact frequency-reconfigurable, wideband to dual-band converter antenna is introduced for 5G millimeter waves (MMW). The PIN Diode achieves frequency reconfigurability in two operational configurations: OFF-OFF and ON-ON. The ground plane of the suggested antenna is partial, and it is designed on a Rogers 5880 substrate that has a thickness of 0.254 mm. To get the wideband response in the suggested antenna in ON-ON mode, a Defected Ground Structure (DGS) is utilized. The OFF-OFF arrangement is used to provide a dual-band response. Investigations are conducted into the suggested antenna's return loss S<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">11</inf>, radiation pattern, gain, and surface current distribution. Therefore, the suggested antenna is used for MMW applications.
