Updates on Nisar Data Products by ISRO
NASA-ISRO SAR (NISAR) is a joint L & S Band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) mission, in which NASA and ISRO have developed L & S Band SAR instruments, respectively. It is the first Earth bound dual frequency SweepSAR mission with 12-meter parabolic reflector based antenna and has the capability to acquire wide-swath high-resolution systematic coverage data for entire globe with 12 days repeat cycle. Products defined for NISAR cater to various science disciplines such as ecosystem, cryosphere, hydrology, coastal, oceanic studies and agriculture. As per the extensive ISRO’s NISAR observation plan, ISRO’s Data Product Generation System (DPGS) will generate NISAR products for both L & S Band. All products will be polarization and frequency band co-registered and will be freely available for users through Bhoonidhi portal. JPL-Science Data System (SDS) will generate products for L-Band global acquisitions. ISRO and JPL generated products are harmonized in terms of product types, structures and formats for effective utilization by the science users. The aim of this paper is to apprise users about the NISAR data products and various data products generation aspects such that users can readily ingest NISAR products in various information extraction frameworks for global monitoring.
