Partial Shading Detection Technique Development for a Photovoltaic Array
This study introduces an approach for detecting partial shading on a photovoltaic array, designed to reduce unnecessary voltage scanning during maximum power point tracking under consistent sunlight conditions. The method leverages the linear relationship between the maximum power point current and the short-circuit current of the array, as well as the correlation between the maximum power point conductance and the conductance calculated from the ratio of short-circuit current to open-circuit voltage. By employing this technique, the controller can promptly identify instances of partial shading as soon as the first maximum power point is located, enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of the tracking process.
