Dual Polarimetric Radar Vegetation Index for Assessing Mangrove Phenological Shifts under Eco-Climatic Stress
Mangrove forests are an intertidal ecosystem made up of a variety of tree species that have adapted to live in a saline, hypoxic environment through common morphological, physiological, biochemical, and reproductive traits. Mangrove canopy has been a focus of attention in recent years as it is essential to improve the survival rate of restoration planting. The study shows that Radar Vegetation Index (RVI) have sensitivity to changes in vegetation structure and moisture content which reflects seasonal variations in mangrove health. Shifts in the mangrove phenology were observed in the time-series analysis of Sentinel-1 RVI index. The variations in the shifts were then compared with the eco-climatic stressors to understand the relation about the health and sustainability of mangrove ecosystem which has a measurable link between biological events and eco-climate stressors.
