A New Digital LoRa Wireless Communication Based on a Rössler Chaotic Oscillator for IIoT
Nowadays internet of things (IoT) is a groundbreaking concept for professionals such as engineers, industrial engineers, doctors, and farmers. Specifically, many companies have begun leveraging the industrial IoT (IIoT) to gather, consolidate, and analyze data with the aim of optimizing efficiency and boosting productivity. Long Range (LoRa) stands out as the top choice among other low power wide area networks (LPWAN) protocols due to its excellent mobility, global availability, and bidirectional communication capabilities. LoRa devices typically employ conventional chirp spread spectrum (CSS) modulation for symbol transmission. In this paper, we design a new waveform based on chaotic signals for LoRa modulation while preserving the structure of Lora modulation. First, we develop a novel chaotic frequency modulation scheme using the Rössler chaotic system to generate varying chaotic waveforms. Then, we evaluate the performance of the proposed system at the output of a coherent receiver under an industrial multipath channel. Simulation results demonstrate that the new chaotic waveforms enhance the system's average bit error rate (BER) performance.
