Investigation of Multiresonant Wave Absorber Performances in Bandwidth Enhancement

This paper investigates a multiresonant wave ab-sorber developed using square patch arranging in a checker-board structure for bandwidth enhancement. The arrangement of square patch with various sizes on a multiresonant wave absorber is accomplished by permuting side-by-side a single-resonant square patch. A design of wave absorber with single unit cell is verified by a finite array of unit cell through simulation and deployed on an FR4 Epoxy dielectric substrate with the total dimension of 206.4 mm ×206.4 mm. The performance of realized multiresonant wave absorber is measured using two horn antennas, in which the result is then compared to the one of single-resonant wave absorber. The measurement results show that the realized multiresonant wave absorber has the fractional bandwidth of 2.69 % which is wider than the single-resonant wave absorber of 0.88 %.
