Angle-of-Arrival LoRaWAN Relay Concept Using Channel Activity Detection and Antenna Switching Mechanism
This paper presents a streamlined solution for implementing the Angle-of-Arrival (AoA) feature in LoRaWAN Relays. The proposed system utilizes the built-in Channel Activity Detection (CAD) process in the LoRa transceivers, switching between directional antennas during the relay preamble to ascertain the direction of incoming packets. As a result, the need for additional hardware modifications in LoRaWan Relays is significantly reduced. The feasibility of the proposed system was confirmed through experimental validation conducted in a controlled noise environment.
