Antenna Activation by Surface Currents Generated by a Metasurface in Q-Band
This paper presents a new concept for recovering radio-frequency (RF) energy using a new structure of metasurface, not to convert it into a DC signal (RF - DC), but to direct it to activate several other wireless active sensors. We have designed a passive platform formed by patch antenna and metasurface structure, illuminated by an electromagnetic plane wave, which, via a passive sensor, recovers the energy in the form of an RF current. This current feed a network of active sensors placed at a certain distance. Simulations show good efficiency, up to 60 degrees of incidence angle of the electromagnetic source.
